Well, I said that I emailed GW a little over a week ago. I believe I emailed them on Sunday on Labor Day weekend. I have yet to receive a reply from them and I do have to say it is a little frustrating. I understand that Monday was a holiday and that 3 business days should have been Friday (giving them some lead time just to be save), but here it is almost a week later (business days, its well over a week counting days normally, but as I work in retail I actually understand what business days are) and I have heard nothing. I guess I better start prepping my contingency list.... Oh well.. I gain 1 extra order a turn I guess and I lose my stubber on the Russ... Just can't use my Tech Priest.... So sad...
That sucks :(
ReplyDeleteHave you tried emailing them again?
No, I was going to give them today and then email them again...
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you just ask the guys running the tournament? Who cares what GW says. I know you want to know for the long run, but this way at least you have an answer for the tournament.
ReplyDeleteI plan on asking the guys at the tournament, I just wanted to some backup when I approached them about it. I have the Black Templar's FAQ that states that it is still an HQ choice, but I wanted a solid answer. I have a backup army that I am going to use just in case, so its not that big of a deal in the end anyways, I'm just a little disapointed... maybe its from all the customer service we have to give at work that I expect it from other stores.. lol
ReplyDeleteDo the Black Templars run Tech Priests in their army? I know in 5th edition you can only select Tech Marines and count towards HQ allowance. I'm not sure about BT rules tho.
ReplyDeleteOh, and I added to your post at Dakka Dakka lol
The Black Templars have a Tech Marine, but the are an Elite choice and not an HQ. What I am talking about is the Emperor's Champion. He is in the same boat as the Tech Priest. He is an HQ choice, but he does not take up a slot. In the GW FAQ, it states that even though he does not take up an HQ slot, he is an HQ choice.
ReplyDeleteAh I see, yeah that's a toughie. I know Black Templars have special codex rules that only apply to them, like Termies in drop pods. I know in my army I could have a champion only in a command squad as an upgrade, not an IC.
ReplyDeleteThat's the problem with so many Space Marine codex is they each have special rules and some became obsolete once they dropped the new codex and B.R.B.
Yeah, but my point is that it elaborates on what qualifies as an HQ choice and what does not. The exact wording is "Yes, even though he does not use up an HQ slot, he is still an HQ choice and so he can fulfill the minimum HQ requirements. While it is for BT, if I were a TO, I would have a hard time arguing against using a Tech Priest having seen GW write this about other figures that do not take up HQ slots. Thats why I am setting up an alternative army. I only have to paint/build one more commander and I will have enough figures to make it. Cant wait to show you guys the 750 army for tommorow :)lol
